A dramatic double decker bus crash has left a period property badly damaged in the rural Norfolk village of Ormesby St Margaret, near Great Yarmouth.Emergency services were called to West Road, Ormesby St Margaret at 10.12am on Thursday 27 August 2026 after a First Bus double-decker collided with a house. Fire crews from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Carrow and Dereham, along with an Urban Search and Rescue team, attended the scene.

The bus crashed into a home that owners had spent the past six years renovating.
The vehicle became embedded in the side of the property, causing significant structural damage. Around seven or eight passengers were on board at the time.Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. Norfolk Police confirmed there were no reports of injuries to passengers, bus staff or members of the public. The homeowners were not present when the crash occurred.
Neighbours react to the double decker bus hitting house
Local residents described the noise of the collision as extremely loud.Kevin Griffin, 64, a neighbour, said:
“I was coming out of my front door… and then there was a bus coming towards my house.
Then I saw a big cloud of dust. It sounded like an explosion. It sounded like a bomb going off, and there was dust everywhere… I got onto the bus, then I was helping people get off. It was upsetting.”Another resident, Tony Bushkes, called the sound “shocking” and “really dramatic.”

A spokesperson for First Bus confirmed:
“We can confirm one of our buses has been involved in a collision with a building in Ormesby St Margaret in Norfolk. There are currently no reports of any injuries among members of the public, our staff or passengers and we are working closely with the local emergency services.”West Road remains closed while emergency services continue clear-up operations at the scene of the bus crash into house.
