In a shocking case that has sent ripples across India’s corporate sector, employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik BPO unit stand accused of running what many are calling a “corporate jihad” — a systematic campaign of sexual harassment, blackmail, and forced religious conversion targeting Hindu colleagues, primarily young women.

What is the Issue?

Over the past four years (roughly 2022–March 2026), at least eight women employees (aged 18–25) and one male colleague filed multiple FIRs at Nashik’s Mumbai Naka Police Station.

The complaints detail a disturbing pattern:

  • Sexual harassment and exploitation: Inappropriate touching, stalking, body shaming, and molestation by senior team leaders who allegedly used their positional power.
  • Forced religious conversion: Victims were pressured to convert to Islam. Allegations include being forced to offer namaz (prayers), observe roza (fasting), consume beef (considered sacred by Hindus), and abandon Hindu practices. Some were told their family members’ illnesses or misfortunes would end only if they converted.
  • Blackmail and coercion: Private photos and videos were reportedly used to silence victims. Promises of job security, promotions, or better salaries were allegedly dangled as incentives.
  • Religious humiliation: Accused individuals allegedly insulted Hindu gods and promoted Islam aggressively in the workplace, creating dedicated WhatsApp groups to coordinate targeting of vulnerable Hindu staff.

The harassment allegedly occurred inside the TCS office premises, with complaints repeatedly ignored by HR. Police conducted a rare 40-day undercover operation using seven female officers disguised as employees to gather evidence, including reviewing over 40 CCTV clips.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now probing whether TCS complied with the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act.

Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan publicly described the case: “Four to five Muslim company workers and some officers lured the girls by promising them jobs and good salaries. They trapped them, converted their religion, made them offer namaz, keep roza, and fed them beef… forcefully.”

TCS has suspended the implicated employees and stated that the matter is “gravely concerning and anguishing.” Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations.

Who Did It? The Accused

Police have arrested six to seven individuals, all identified as Muslim team leaders or senior staff at the Nashik TCS unit.

The key accused named across FIRs and police statements include:

  • Tausif Attar (also spelled Tauseef Attar) – Team leader
  • Danish Sheikh – Team leader
  • Raza Memon – Team leader
  • Asif Ansari
  • Shafi Sheikh
  • Shah Rukh Qureshi (or Shahrukh Sheikh)

Additionally, Nida Khan, the female HR manager, is the key accused who allegedly ignored multiple victim complaints to shield the perpetrators.

She is currently absconding, and police are actively hunting her.

One report indicates she may be in remand or under investigation for her role.

The accused held managerial positions, which allegedly enabled them to prey on junior Hindu colleagues. Some victims reported being lured into personal relationships that turned coercive, with conversion pressure escalating over time. One male victim’s FIR (No. 166/2026) explicitly states that the accused insulted Hinduism and claimed “Your god doesn’t exist, only Allah does,” while promising his father’s recovery in exchange for conversion.

Broader Implications and Reactions

This case has been dubbed “Corporate Jihad” by BJP leaders, drawing parallels to “love jihad” patterns reported elsewhere, though police are treating it strictly as criminal offences under IPC sections for sexual harassment, assault, and hurting religious sentiments. Shiv Sena (UBT) has criticised TCS’s initial response as inadequate.TCS, one of India’s largest employers with massive revenue, has faced questions about internal safeguards. The company has not issued a detailed public apology yet but has cooperated with the SIT.

The Nashik case highlights deeper concerns in India’s IT sector: workplace power imbalances, religious radicalisation in professional environments, and the vulnerability of young employees (especially women) in BPO units. As the SIT investigation continues and more digital evidence emerges, this story is far from over. It serves as a wake-up call for corporates to enforce zero-tolerance policies on harassment and religious coercion — regardless of the perpetrator’s background.

YTC Ventures will continue to track developments in this high-profile case. Justice for the victims must be swift, and accountability at every level — from HR to senior management — is non-negotiable.
