Hyderabad, India — October 29, 2025

Citizens Bank, one of the leading U.S.-based financial institutions, has announced a massive hiring drive at its Hyderabad Global Capability Center (GCC). The bank plans to onboard 1,000 professionals in human resources, technology, and operations roles by April 2026, marking a significant milestone in its India expansion strategy.

The Hyderabad GCC, established as a cornerstone of Citizens’ digital transformation, focuses on building next-generation capabilities, including artificial intelligence (AI)-driven HR analytics, digital onboarding, and workforce automation systems.

The expansion underscores Hyderabad’s growing dominance as a Global Capability Center (GCC) hub for banking and fintech innovation.

Hyderabad: The New Global HR Innovation Hub

Hyderabad has rapidly evolved into a preferred destination for Global Capability Centers of leading global banks, tech firms, and financial institutions. With its strong talent pool and cost-effective ecosystem, the city continues to attract major investments from Fortune 500 companies.

Citizens Bank’s decision to ramp up its GCC workforce reflects a broader industry trend — global banks increasingly using Indian centers to drive innovation, not just cost efficiency.

“Our Hyderabad GCC is not just a support center — it’s the engine driving Citizens’ digital future. The new hiring wave will strengthen our people strategy, foster innovation, and build scalable HR technology solutions for a global workforce,” said a company spokesperson.

Focus on Digital HR and New Mobile Platform

The Hyderabad GCC team is currently developing a new mobile HR platform aimed at redefining employee experience and engagement across Citizens Bank’s global network. The platform will integrate advanced analytics, employee wellness tools, and AI-based recruitment modules, setting a new benchmark for HR technology in the banking sector.

In addition to HR tech, the center is expected to work on digital banking solutions, cybersecurity, and process automation, aligning with Citizens’ long-term goal to become a tech-driven, customer-first bank.

Leadership & Vision: The People Behind Citizens Bank

Founded in 1828 in Providence, Rhode Island, Citizens Bank has grown from a regional institution into one of the top 15 largest banks in the United States. The bank’s long-standing mission revolves around “helping customers, colleagues, and communities reach their potential.”

At the helm is Bruce Van Saun, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Financial Group. Since taking over in 2013, Van Saun has led the bank through a period of aggressive modernization, digital reinvention, and strategic growth — including the establishment of global technology hubs like the Hyderabad GCC.

Under his leadership, Citizens has:

  • Strengthened its focus on data-driven banking and digital infrastructure.
  • Expanded corporate lending and wealth management capabilities.
  • Emphasized inclusive workplace culture and leadership development.

Van Saun’s leadership style is often described as strategic yet human-centered — balancing performance excellence with purpose-driven values. His approach reflects Citizens’ broader philosophy of blending technology, talent, and trust to build a modern banking ecosystem.

India’s GCC Momentum Continues

According to NASSCOM, India is home to over 1,750+ Global Capability Centers, employing more than 1.6 million professionals. Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Pune remain top destinations due to their robust infrastructure, global connectivity, and skilled digital talent base.

Citizens Bank’s expansion reinforces this trend — and positions its Hyderabad GCC as a strategic innovation hub for the bank’s HR and technology transformation journey.
