Bengaluru, the beating heart of India’s tech revolution, is gearing up to host a groundbreaking event that’s poised to redefine the nation’s role in global innovation. Supercomputing India 2025 (SCI 2025), the inaugural edition of this annual powerhouse conference, will convene from December 9 to 13, 2025, at the state-of-the-art Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT Bengaluru).

Launched on Tuesday amid much fanfare, this flagship gathering—organized by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC Bengaluru) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India—promises to unite over 5,000 experts, researchers, and innovators under the theme “Powering the Future: HPC, AI, Quantum.”As #SCI2025 trends on social media, with posts from official handles and tech enthusiasts buzzing about poster submissions and ministerial endorsements, the event underscores India’s ambitious leap in high-performance computing (HPC).

Part of the Centre for HPC Upskilling and Knowledge-sharing (C-HUK) initiative, SCI 2025 is more than a conference—it’s a catalyst for building an indigenous supercomputing ecosystem, aligning seamlessly with the transformative National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). With #SupercomputingIndia gaining traction, expect a flood of registrations as delegates eye sessions on exascale systems, quantum-classical hybrids, and AI-accelerated computing.

A Milestone Launch: From Vision to Reality in Bengaluru’s Tech Epicenter

The curtain-raiser event at The Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru drew heavyweights like S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, who hailed the NSM as a “viable model for the Global South,” backed by institutions like the World Bank for its cost-effective scalability.

Magesh E., Director General of C-DAC, announced that India is hosting a global supercomputing event for the first time, spotlighting breakthroughs in HPC, AI, and quantum computing. Other notables included Rajesh Singh, Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor at MeitY; Dr. S.D. Sudarsan, Executive Director of C-DAC Bengaluru; and Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice Chancellor of MIT Bengaluru.

This isn’t just talk—Bengaluru is on the cusp of welcoming a beast of a machine: a 35-petaflop supercomputer from C-DAC, currently in final testing at its local center. Set for launch by December, this powerhouse—comprising over 3,000 servers—will dwarf the current leader, IISc’s 3.3-petaflop Param Pravega, and turbocharge research in AI, climate modeling, and beyond.

As one attendee posted: “Honoured to attend the Curtain Raiser… Excited to see India powering the future through innovation! ”Under the NSM—a joint MeitY and Department of Science and Technology (DST) effort implemented by C-DAC and IISc—37 supercomputers delivering 39 petaflops are already live across institutions, democratizing access to cutting-edge compute power. SCI 2025 will showcase this progress, fostering collaborations that could propel India to the forefront of global supercomputing.

What’s in Store: A Packed Agenda for HPC, AI, and Quantum Trailblazers

Mark your calendars for an action-packed five days blending knowledge-sharing, hands-on learning, and networking. Expect over 100 sessions, including:

  • Tutorials and Workshops: Dive deep into HPC tools, AI frameworks, and quantum algorithms.
  • Keynotes and Plenary Talks: Insights from global leaders on exascale challenges and ethical AI.
  • Expert Panels and Parallel Sessions: Debates on quantum-classical integration and sustainable computing.
  • Chip Design Conclave and NSM Summit: Exploring indigenous semiconductor tech.
  • Women in Technology Programs and Doctoral Symposium: Empowering diverse voices in STEM.
  • Technology Exhibition and Industry Roundtables: 200+ exhibitors showcasing innovations, with forums for startups and investors.

Plus, 50+ research posters from 500+ researchers and 500+ academicians, drawing delegates from 20+ countries. Applications will span climate modeling, healthcare, space exploration, materials science, and defense—real-world impacts powered by supercomputing.

As the official handle urged: “Shape what’s next… Submit your posters by Oct 17, 2025!”The C-HUK focus ensures inclusivity, with training for SC, ST, women, and EWS candidates in HPC, AI, embedded systems, and cybersecurity—building a diverse talent pipeline through 6-month courses and faculty programs.

Bengaluru’s Deep-Tech Boost: Ministerial Backing and Global Spotlight

Karnataka IT & BT Minister Shri Priyank M. Kharge met the SCI 2025 team, pledging full support to cement Bengaluru’s status as a deep-tech hub. This aligns with NSM 2.0’s push into AI and semiconductors, though funding details are still crystallizing.

For the Silicon Valley of India, hosting SCI 2025 isn’t just an event—it’s a declaration of intent to lead in computational frontiers.

Why SCI 2025 Matters: Fueling India’s Innovation Engine

In a world racing toward exascale and beyond, Supercomputing India 2025 positions the nation as a key player. By bridging academia, industry, and government, it addresses talent gaps, sparks R&D, and tackles grand challenges like drug discovery and disaster prediction.

As an IEEE-backed event, it promises rigorous discourse and actionable outcomes.
